ADHD & AUTISM
Assessment, Diagnosis and support
The Process provides comprehensive assessments for ADHD and Autism, designed to establish whether the diagnostic criteria are met. Our assessment process is thorough, evidence-based and carried out in line with recognised clinical standards. Where appropriate, a formal diagnosis and detailed diagnostic report will be provided. We also offer specialist therapy and coaching to help individuals understand their diagnosis, develop effective strategies, and manage the challenges associated with ADHD or Autism in everyday life.
Three steps to resolution
Initial Consultation
The initial consultation provides an opportunity to discuss your current difficulties, personal history and the reasons you are seeking an assessment. We will explore your symptoms, answer any questions you may have about the diagnostic process, and determine whether a comprehensive ADHD or Autism assessment is appropriate. This appointment also ensures you have a clear understanding of the assessment pathway before proceeding.
Formal Assessment
The assessment is carried out using recognised diagnostic criteria and a structured clinical process. It includes a detailed exploration of your developmental history, current presentation and the impact your symptoms have across different areas of your life. Information from questionnaires and, where appropriate, supporting evidence from family members or other sources may also be considered. Following the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written report and, where the diagnostic criteria are met, a formal diagnosis.
Coaching and Support
A diagnosis is often the beginning rather than the end of the process. We offer specialist coaching and therapeutic support to help you understand how ADHD or Autism affects you as an individual and to develop practical strategies for managing everyday challenges. Support may focus on areas such as organisation, emotional regulation, relationships, self-esteem, work, education and overall wellbeing, depending on your individual needs.
Why Diagnose?
For many people, receiving an ADHD or Autism diagnosis is about far more than simply putting a name to their experiences. It provides clarity, helping you understand why certain aspects of work, education, relationships, or everyday life may have felt more challenging than they should.
A diagnosis can help you access appropriate support, reasonable adjustments in the workplace or education, evidence-based treatment options where appropriate, and practical strategies to help you thrive. It can also reduce self-blame by replacing years of uncertainty with a greater understanding of your strengths, challenges, and how your brain works.
Even if your assessment does not result in a diagnosis, it can still provide valuable insight into your difficulties and guide you towards the most appropriate support for your individual needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I get assessed or diagnosed?
An assessment can provide clarity about the challenges you've been experiencing and help you better understand how your brain works. If you are diagnosed with ADHD or Autism, it can open the door to appropriate support, workplace or educational adjustments, and evidence-based strategies to improve your daily life. Even if you are not diagnosed, the assessment can identify other factors that may be contributing to your difficulties and provide recommendations for the right support.
Who will assess me?
Your assessment will be carried out by a qualified and experienced clinician with specialist training in ADHD and/or Autism assessments. Our clinicians follow recognised clinical guidelines and use evidence-based assessment tools to ensure every assessment is thorough, accurate, and tailored to your individual circumstances.
How long will the assessment take?
The assessment typically takes between 2 and 3 hours, depending on your individual circumstances and whether you are being assessed for ADHD, Autism, or both. We take the time needed to fully understand your history, current experiences, and how your symptoms affect different areas of your life.
Can I still get support if the diagnosis shows I do not have ADHD or Autism?
Absolutely. Many people seek an assessment because they know something doesn't feel quite right, even if ADHD or Autism isn't the underlying cause. If your assessment does not result in a diagnosis, we will discuss our findings with you and recommend the most appropriate support, which may include therapy, coaching, or further assessment for other conditions where appropriate.
Are there any extra costs?
The cost of your assessment includes the clinical assessment, diagnostic outcome, and written report. If you require additional services, such as ongoing ADHD coaching, psychotherapy, further reports, or referrals for medication assessment, these may incur additional fees. We will always discuss any potential costs with you in advance so there are no unexpected charges.
